In this vogue runway issue, Verner discusses the 2024 fall Yohji Yamamoto menswear collection. The layout of this article outlines a typical magazine feature because it includes high-quality Images and an in-depth understanding of Yamamoto’s intentions of his show and collection. Verner successfully sets the tone of this issue in such an articulating way that aligns with Vogues editorial thus, allowing readers to also visualise what it’s like without even being there. This is seen from the opening line where Yamamoto is described as being more than a fashion designer. It showcases more of a feature article rather than a news story because of its creative narrative style. Moreover, Verner’s choice of words and analysis of Yamamoto’s menswear collection provide not only a creative element but also an observational piece of work too. The article and to an extent reviews, provide accurate information and interpretation of the designer’s theme of the runway collection and tends to aim towards fashion enthusiasts who would like to read a storytelling article. Ultimately, the Vogue runway issue successfully conveys an exciting story to its readers because of the tone and detailed description of Yamamoto’s exhibition. To extent, I believe that this article does apply most principles of a feature article structure rather than a news story because of the journalist’s choice in words but, some features like interviews aren’t really displayed in this article so much. In a way, I feel like an improvement of this article would be applying interviews in her writing.
